£500 bandsaw

Hi all

First post here. I recognise a lot of names from UKW.

I've decided to ditch my Metabo table saw, which primarily gets used for cutting sheet materials. I have a spare Ryobi folding saw, and circular saw with guide, so won't really miss the Metabo.

However, I am looking for a decent bandsaw, upto £500 (may stretch a little further for the right machine). My current BS is a poxy little Record "benchtop" model. Ideally I would like an 8" depth of cut for re-sawing.

Don't mind going second hand for the right machine/price.

Well, just taken delivery of my new Bandsaw. Record BS350s.

Looks like a great machine for the money. Nice powerful motor, and good capacities. The wheel kit is a bit crap though - it's a heavy machine and I don't think the wheels will last very long.

I'm off for a tinker....

Good for you mate,
Get yourself a few new blades for it from Ian at Dragon saws, much better than the standard blade that will have came with it.

Funny you should say that - I ordered some from him after I ordered the Record, and they arrived yesterday morning. Will be putting one in it tonight.
