Ebay. I put one on last year and couldn't sell it. Gave it away on freecycle in the end.
cheers

Do you know if all the racks are the same and its just the fixings to the van that are differant ?

The one I dumped had 4 fitting brackets down each side but they were each adjustable by a few inches so it could probably fit a lot of vans. Or you just make up some length-ways rails from wood and fit to them.

I got mine supplied and fitted by the (Vauxhall) dealer, cost about £250; that was four years ago. Couldn't manage without it.

Hmmm i have had a quote from SDV and looked at the one Keith has , also looked at Rhyno bars and seen all types while out and about . I think i am going to go with truck rax as a few people at my local timber yard have them and they seem to look brand new even after a few years . I have trouble keeping the workshop tidy so there is no chance im going to polish my roof rack ;D
Not sure if i should go for the 8ft one with wind deflector or 11ft one that will over hang the front of the van roof ( not the van )

either will impact on your fuel mileage if you do real distance work, but in fact the bigger one may well be of more allround value if it is not too much more expensive. however what kind of things are you likely to load. what you will also need is a sled to protect the occassional dainty piece you make ;D paul

Mainly window frames go on the roof , the rest goes in the van . I know i used to get annoyed with my old two bar roof rack because it didnt support the whole frame and the upstands used to get in the way . Most of my work is local , i may do the odd motor way trip but not often .

I ended up going with Truk rax in the end ... I paid the extra for the longer one only to find out my van hasnt got the hooks for it So i have fitted the 8ft part and am waiting for the extra hooks to make it 11ft

Jason, whilst you were looking around for racks, did you notice any that sell frails/side racks too? A frail is much more useful to me than a rof rack, but i've only been able to find one online!

Yup i was looking at side racks aswell but the are double the cost of the roof rack SDV do them but their roof racks have round bars so i assume the side rack would be the same construction .

My old rack was 1.7m across and this one is a bit wider but has no hoops to get over . I used to get 3m x 2.0 - 2.4 m frames up on my own and lift it over the hoops . This rack has a roller at the back but i think a good whack with a lump of timber could take that out pretty soon . I'll let you know when i break it ;D They sell hook on ladders that could help loading large frames £80 each but looking pretty good to me for loading the big stuff , two of them would make pulling a frame up easy .
