The Northern Contemporary Furniture Makers are holding a group exhibition. All forum members are welcome to drop by. An indication of the exhibition's flavour is available by clicking on the Events button at the top right here, www.northernfurniture.org.uk/index.html The venue and opening dates are also listed at this link. I admit to having a vested interest in this exhibition; I am one of the exhibitors and the photographs shown at the link are also mine. I think it is very unlikely that any users of this forum are potential customers of any of any of the exhibitors, but I imagine some of you will find the work of interest. Slainte.

Thanks for posting that link, Richard. Looks like some very nice stuff - pity it's so far away (for me, anyway). Cheers Paul

Don't put yourself down Rich, some of it's not bad. Ha, ha. I meant that I reckoned most of you lot would be 'corners-of-the-mouth permanently downturned', teeth sucking, sneering, hyper-critical tyre kickers, rather than the alternative, ie, desperate car users with four vandal slashed tyres and a 500 mile car journey with unhappy wife and three snot-nosed screaming kids in tow starting in half an hour, and I'll buy 'em at any price just to get out of here types ha, ha-- ha, ha, ha. Slainte.

yeah well - hyper critical! Perhaps it's a question of balance? It's partly reaction - there's this amazingly reverential attitude in the media towards the woodworking gurus, personalities and their products; not just the furniture but also the tools and the crazy sharpening rituals. ;D ;D Over there for instance, the punters are creepily deferential and obsequious to the names and the dogmas - which is partly why we are here instead, heretics and outcasts Hope the show goes well, might even come and have a look myself! cheers Jacob

Well, as far as I know I am a woodworking goo-roo, so a little bowing and scraping is always welcome, ha, ha-- ha, ha, ha.
Thanks for good wishes.
Sales have been quite brisk by all accounts-- quite a few red dots have appeared in the first two days of the show. Unfortunately I haven't yet heard the rustle of a cheque falling in my direction, but there is time yet, and you never know; I might get lucky. Slainte.

We dropped into the Leyburn show on Friday and were really impressed with some of the pieces, especially those by Chris Tribe & David Mawdsley, with whom we had a nice long chat about the business.
I do have to say that the best piece by far was your Cherry & Walnut Cabinet - now that is a true masterpiece. Inspiration at its best.
The show was very well laid out and allowed all the 'tyre kicking' you could hope for in a great setting.

Now you are being kind Roger; but of course it is true that my work is the best, ha, ha.
I hope you gave those tyres a right good kicking and included plenty of pursed lip teeth sucking, and downturned mouth corners-- I'll know who to bill for damaged feet. Slainte.

Made all the right noises with a couple of 'different' pieces on the same side as yours - you'll probably know which ones I mean but didn't even raise a foot to that Cherry & Walnut . . .
