That time of year again when you freeze yer nuts off in the workshop . Although i walked back into mine today and thought oh its warm in here . I have a plug in asbestos type heater and a blower that i tend to turn off if i leave the workshop because i dont trust it with all the dust in the air . I might invest in a gas space heater this year to give the workshop a good blast of warm air first thing but not sure that would be a good thing for the timber i have in stock .

b*ll*x, at least I wear an apron and boots ;D Is that all? I've just aquired a dimplex oil filled radiator. It's just the job if you are working in one spot. It's thin and takes up hardly any floor space so you can have it in front of you at the workbench and it warms your legs and warm air wafts upwards. Steve could drape his pinny over it! cheers Jacob

I have a 2kW wall mounter ceramic heater, it doesn't heat the air just solid objects. Should be less of a fire risk, I hope. Still bloomin cold though

there was me thinking that those cylinders had gas in them ! Not quite sure what the reaction would be if you tried taking that one back to be exchanged

it's bloody 'orrible. Seems to get worse every year. I'm having a plumbed in rad put into my workshop next week and beefing up insulation.

Hmmm , i just dont trust the idea of an open fire in a wooden workshop full of wood . It seems like tempting fate .

I'd agree with that. I dont use it open tho - like this, it becomes just a big radiator I put a fan on to cirulate the air round the shop this is burning shavings out the chip extractor

the bricks around the back are out of a storage heater. I dont keep anything too close that might burn ! That corner of my shop it metalwork and car mechanic type tools. Plus, I keep the fire at a sensible level

I have looked at the hot spot but someone did a test on one last year and said that the dust and an offcut they had placed on it had slight charing . That put me off . Gonna post about the doors later .

ah but your probably lugging stuff about , im stood at a work bench all day . I invested in this today 11 fin oil filled radiator , it seems to be doing the job and you can feel the workshop is warm as soon as you walk in there . Might buy another one to make it toasty warm ;D

Machine mart are selling them for about £50 . I think its the safest option and it kicks out a fair amount of heat . Not sure the electric will make alot of differance with the machines i am running all day . One thing i will say is it has a stupidly short lead on it
