It still surprises me how long all the finishing-off jobs seem to take - beading, drip mouldings, painting, bits of plastering and a course of bricks under the cill and so on. And the lead work as well: A new step to build as well: And, although the narrow door won't get used very often, the kitchen worktop will have to be moved or replaced, along with the wall tiles. And a 13a socket underneath...

Very nice and an interesting design. TV makeover shows have a lot to answer for making people thing this sort of job can be done in a day. If you don't need the full access, perhaps you could just cut a big semi circle or chamfer off the worktop. Save yourself a lot of work
