Welcome to the November, 2008 issue of the Sawdust Making 101 Newsletter.
There was a recent post in one of the woodworking forums asking about the joint used in the construction of the drawers of an antique dresser. This joint is known as a Knapp Joint, which replaced a lot of hand cut dovetails on drawers when Charles Knapp patented a machine to cut them in 1867. This machine was used by many manufacturers up to around 1905 when it was replaced by another machine that cut dovetails.
