ive started a new college course. for the first project we were given a plank of rough sessile oak from the woodschool in the scottish borders and an fm radio. we have to design and make a structure which will support a person and it has to be interactive in some way. mine is a log which rolls to adjust the volume. sketchup model one each i cut it into 15mm strips and glued them into into a board like this. then the board is cut into ten sides apart from saw draft this all the waste. the finish is rough to allude to the rough bark of a log. im not thicknessing the sides as i cannot afford the waste. if i had the log would be about 270mm high as opposed to the 370 it is now

looks good and an interesting idea. so how does the volume change work?? or are you also adapting the trevor bayliss idea and making it wind up by rolling ;D paul

i had lots of ideas for adapting a freeplay wind up radio or something like that but we are not allowed to introduce any thing we haven't been given, not even screws or paint. so im going to make a wooden pendulum to hang from the volume potentiometer.
