My norwegian is a bit rusty - oh dunno though - does it say Norway's oldest wooden (tree) house? ikke church thingy? 840 years old? Interesting. Note the air gap ;D that's worth 400 years! Softwood? Scot's pine? The weather would help - very cold winters with very dry air. They might have had preservatives for all I know. Reindeer piss or something. A lot of still used materials are actually ancient. Bitumen is in the bible. Shellac and mastic both natural products known to the ancient greeks. Linseed oil prehistoric. Who knows?

I had the link off of another forum.
It's the oldest woden building in norway that isn't a church. 840 yrs old.
I found the picture and its age interesting - the joinery etc .
I thought others might too.
I also remembered how you like how 'old' joinery last against 'modern' methods ;D
