Just received this from Felder .
Felder UK have been supplying high quality Austrian made machinery in the UK now for well over 25 years. As a factory direct subsidiary, Felder UK has had the benefit of support through difficult times. The current decline in the exchange rate between the Euro and British Pound however has been predicted by some experts to reach parity before very long and the recent sharp decline in the value of pound is seeming to support these predictions.
The effect of the strengthening Euro has been to reduce the Euro value of every Felder machine that is brought into the UK and as such the Factory in Austria have been forced into passing on a 15% price increase to Felder UK. When you put this into relation of the fact that the pound has dropped by over 25% in value over the past year, then we can say in confidence that despite the increase in price, that Felder machines will remain price competitive and that this increase is required to continue to provide the high quality of product and service that our Felder customers have been accustomed to.
The purpose of this newsflash is not to rush anybody into a quick decision, especially in times that we find ourselves in today. For those customers who are fortunate enough to still have full order books and are looking to invest early in the New Year, then thought should really be put to placing a deposit before the 5th of January and securing the existing price.
For any customers who simply cannot afford either the risk or the investment at present then we suggest that you stay in contact with our sales team, who will be able to provide you with details of offers, special promotions and available showroom machines throughout 2009.
Regrettably this price increase has had to be brought into effect with very little notice due to the recent sudden drop in the value of the pound, this is also something that will effect every Eurozone manufacturer and as such we are certain that even after this price increase, Felder products will be amongst the most competitive on the market.
The thing that annoys me about this is Felder have increased the price of all their goods by 12% earlier this year on the premise that raw material & energy prices have gone up considerably.
Since then the price of raw materials have collapsed and according to the experts energy prices have started to fall across mainland Europe and are due to fall here in the new year, but do I see Felder reducing prices again to reflect this.............
Felder have now increased the price of their products by more than 43% in the last 4 years alone. 27% this year alone
Looking at other manufacturers at this time & phoning round none of the ones I spoke to have any immediate plans to increase prices and some of these firms are european manufacturers.
I think I am about to become an EX Felder customer. They make good products, but the competion is catching them up fast.
Felder have never in the years I've known them lowered the base price when things have turned the other way.
Maybe I'm just becoming another old cynic ;D
