Hi all,
Does anyone have any recommendations for a portable table saw? Something that can fold down for transport but is sturdy/robust when in use? There seem to be a lot of options out there, so any experiences good/bad welcome.
Id like to be able to cut 1m wide panels on site, easy blade change, up to 45 degree bevel.
I have a strong metal stand that could be modified to hold a bench top table saw. So I dont necessarily need one with its own stand.

kity always was good kit for the money, but not sure who and why they are made any more. so many bankruptcies etc. seem to remember they are part of sheppach, but not sure. my dewalt 744 is about 10 years old, and will cut up to 600 wide panels, and with a decent blade, like the cmt is pretty good and accurate too. the fence is a joy, and accurate. my only concern is dust extraction paul

How easy is it to change the blade?

sorry, chippy been missing this. the blade change on the dewalt is pretty easy, two spanners, but none the less quite easy. however if you check out the latest axminster flyer, they are selling the bosch for 399.99 which is about a 150 quid saving. worth looking at i think. hth paul

Chippy, Instead of a portable table saw have you considered a Festool plunge saw with guide rail, these are tailor made for easy and accurate panel cutting. You can get a TS55 saw in a Systainer with a 1.4m guide rail for about £380 incl vat.

Chippy,
You will be pushed to find a portable table saw to rip 1m panels, but have a look at the DeWalt DW743N 250mm Flip Over Combination Saw, they also do extension accessories to cut large panel materials.
Screwfix do one for £553 + vat, they say it includes extension side tables, there is also an over the counter voucher for a 10% discount between 4th and the 18th Jan 2009.

paul, must disagree with you, i have cut full 1220x2440 panels into 600 units without too much difficulty but of course only with the out rigger supports. paul

actually paul we are both a little wrong, we could in fact cut a 1000 wide panel off a 2440 panel. all you do is set the fence at 217mm to allow for the 3mm wide blade, and that would allow you to run a 1000 panel through, as long as you have a helper. not possible to cross cut though of course. ;D paul
