Got to make some space in the shop so the Myford has to go. Very little use from new (one set of stair rails and a few bowls) complete with wood stand, single phase motor and Mem starter. Craft Supplies chuck included plus a few decent chisels.
Any interest before it goes on ebay?
Looking for about £350.
Can deliver - pics to follow.

Pics as promised Tools are HSS by Henry Taylor / Ashley Isles except the roughing gouge and comprise bowl gouge, roughing gouge, skew chisel and corner scraper - all man sized examples. Those with more delicate features ;D may require smaller handles. Brian

Hi Mel, I think they stopped in the late 80's and I have had this from new since about '85. As you point out it does not look like its done much work, which it hasn't. I'm a carcass and frame man at heart and never got much into turnery apart from a few staircase newels and the inevitable bowls and boxes.
cheers

Very nice classic machine. You will miss it as soon as it's gone! I'd dump something else. I've just revived my interest in turning (Arundel J4) and it could be very useful. Not bowls and urns, more knobs and spindles. Also a good way of using up scrap - you don't need special purchases of exotic wood turning blanks; bits from the log pile will do.

Yep, it is a nice machine and I am always loathe to part with gear which, as you rightly say, you will immediately need. In this case I think I am well covered as I have just comiossioned the hybrid and I just in the process of commissioning the ML7 A man can have too many lathes ;D but I'm not complaining. cheers Brian

I should point out the hybrid is set up for "precision" wood turning as shown. This includes long tapers using the offsettable tailstock and spiral work using the internal dividing head. Not q It also has normal wood tool rests for spindle and faceplate work.

A glitch posted that before I had finished!
I was going to say, not quite a Holtzapfel but with some of it's genes.
I'm looking forward to some experiments shortly.
Maybe I should post a workshop tour when I'm finished. I am currently about kn*ackered having spent all of every day in workshop rebuilding over Christmas.
cheers

Brian, what is the maximum size you can turn over the bed? and what size/thread is the spindle?

Brian, what is the maximum size you can turn over the bed? and what size/thread is the spindle? Hi, centre height is 100mm and the long bed model is 1110mm approx between centres. The inboard thread is 1" Whit and I think the outboard is 5/8" Whit Left Hand. Turning diameter is unlimited outboard. Since I wrote the original note I have realised I need the Craft supplies chuck for my remaining lathe which has the same thread. cheers Brian

It was shorter when I bought it but I took it back to Myfords to have a long bed fitted to do some staircase work. If I remember correctly they made only a nominal charge in those days. I could saw the end off if you like ;D Brian

I mean with the motor underneath it needs the bench . My Clarke is on a board and i use my work bench when i need to use it and can move it out the way when its not in use . But if i extended the shed ;D
