This afternoon I've had a demo of a Domino from a guy from Festool. I have to say I'm very impressed and I'm going to have to have one.
The thing is, the demo model was the old version with metal pins. It is being replaced with a slightly different system due to some legal shenanagins with Mafell. He's offered me the demo model at a (small!) discount. In fact, he's left it with me on appro.
The saving is so slight that my first instinct is to go for a new one. However, are the old metal pins a lot better than the new plastic arrangement they've been forced to change to?
I've got a couple of days to make my mind up.
Cheers Dan

I have the metal pin one which i have had no problems with and it works well (as long as you dont get glue in the mechanism DAMHIKT). I was also told in an informal chat with the Festool rep at an exhibition that the metal pin ones were the one to have.
The machine is probably well over a year old and is obviously secondhand so I would expect a decent discount on it. Are they selling it to you direct or is the transaction through a local supplier?
