Got to draw up a pair of bi-fold doors. Was going to opt for the Henderson weather seal running gear again.
When I made the set for my house, they opened out wards so the cill rebate was on the inside but if opening inwards the rebate will be on the outside. The Henderson spec details show a weather stripping to the edge of the rebate but surely this is not going to stop a heavy rainfall. You really need a drip bar fitted to the bottom of the doors but as they fold flat together, this isn't an option I can use.
Am i making sense, and can i ask for some advise on how the properly weather proof the cill before I ask the building to except outwards opening only.
I'll try and post some pics to explain more

Could you make the hinge between the two halves a parliament type to allow space for back to back weather bars when opened? You would also need some sort of clever cut between the two half weather bars so they butt up when closed and don't foul in any postion of angular opening. This might just be an angled cut or some form of arc cut with the centre of curvature in line with the pins of the hinge. I've got a sort of mental picture - hope these words convey something useful!!

I know what your trying the say. The doors have to use the supplied hinges as the hinge is incorperated into the running gear. When the doors fold flat, they are only 8mm apart so i don't think a weather bar will fit to be honest.
I've been on loads of sites, and nearly all are opening outwards. Only opening in when the doors are set back from the face of the building with some sort fo overhead cover.
I don't think we should stick our necks out and build the doors if they insist on inward, don't want to be called out after a heavy rain fall.

Hi lynx,
I'm not familair withtn eh hendeson track gear you mention but unless there is a way to offest the hinge axis laterally away from the horizontal track then I think you are stuck with using the gear as the designers intended unless they can find inward opening running gear.
The whole idea of bifold is compactness when open so I doubt that there is a commercial solution and doing a bespoke version will be very time consuming, costly and likely not to be as smooth running as a standard part.
I think you have the right idea to back away unless they indemnify against problems in the future.
Good Luck
Bob
