I really must post some pics of some of the french tenon cutters I inherited,
Not just that, one set I have weight 6kg each (two in a set), and the guard is 0.5mm steel sheet............what the **** is that going to stop

I think you will find if you fasion the 0.5mm sheet steel into a kidney shape it will make an ideal Scrit gaurd for your underpants ;D

I've always made my tenons by simply using a rebate block and flipping the piece over to cut the other side. For short production runs in a cabinet shop I've yet to be convinced of the viability of investing in specific tenoning tooling.
If I was making dozens of window frames, I'd probably change my mind though!
