Single malt Scotches, especially peaty smoky ones like Islays or Juras, although Edradour is another very nice one. All time favourite has to be Caol Ila

Once spent a long evening drinking with a couple of german cyclists on a camp site in France. We chuntered on about what we drank and where etc etc and suddenly realised - like a bolt out of the blue - that we liked every single alcoholic drink we'd ever had! We even gave meths 2 out of 10 - colour interesting, taste appalling, cost per unit alcohol good value, but we were pissed by then
cheers Jacob

Good grief. Mind you Tommy Walsh drinks a half pint of Baileys every day, allegedly. Dom I don't like Baileys on it's own although I don't mind a glass or two of cognac ;D and I've been known to drink a little rum ;D But this mixture of cognac & baileys is unbelievable. But as I stressed already it must have a lot of ice in it, it's just not the same without ice. ;D

Hmmm, my experience of drinking is that adding lots of ice makes it easier to consume more alcohol, I might just try it Dom

One Barrel with coconut water. The best rum I've ever tasted - makes even Bacardi Oro taste like s**t.. There are at least 5 bottles in the UK and I've still got 3 of them.

Hmm, anything with aniseed in it, Pernod, Rickardo, Ouzo, Raki, I usually drink it until the TV or computer screen swims and then know I have had enough. ;D

right now i'd settle for a nice cup of tea - milk, no sugar.
later I'd happily settle down with a bottle of black bush - and a cigar ;D

I think I will be the odd man out on this one My favorite is a good bourbon whiskey ;D There's alot of bad bourbon but the good stuff is wonderful, and cheap compared to good scotch or irish whiskey. Sparky

I'm drinking more brandy than scotch or Irish these days, but it seems to me that, although the French do make excellent brandy, you have to spend a lot of money in France to get something worth drinking, whereas you can spend a few quid in Italy, Spain, Cyprus, Greece, Croatia - almost anywhere else on the Med - and get a very nice drink. It's not the same drink, and many of these other brandies are similar, often more gentle, but quite delicious. And if we are looking at cocktails: 1 Dry vermouth 2 Sweet vermouth 1 Gin OJ to top It's called a Gigolo's Delight, and I've not yet found anyone who doesn't like it. Especially good for those who don't normally drink..... Now what's for dinner?

Semi-dry draught Cider ......... in a little cosy Dales pub in the evening. Open fire - no TV / Jukebox / CDs etc. and just a few locals in the corner. Peace on earth
