This might be a daft question, but here goes............
I can't see how to up-load photos on this site and the help files don't seem to mention it.
Can anyone put me straight...... bearing in mind I'm an old fashioned woodworker, not Bill Gates, so go easy with the jargon!

You need to host them somewhere and then upload them from there. I find Photobucket very good and quite straight forward and it's free photobucket.com/?link=topmenuCheers Paul

Thanks Paul.
It's the uploading bit I'm not sure of.
How's it done?

Hey argus, which bit specifically are you having problems with? The main steps are: 1 Get pics onto your pc 2 Get pics onto a hosting site (ie photobucket) from your pc 3 Hosting site will give image an 'image code' which you can copy and then paste this 'image code' into your post If you get chance then give me a bit more info of the step that you are not able to complete and I will expand! (PM if you prefer!)

OK I have expanded the uploading bit! The main thing to get your head around is that once you have the photobucket account then you go to there to 'pull' the pictures from your pc (as opposed to 'pushing' them from your pc to photobucket) Anyway pics are better so here goes: 1 Log into Photobucket (from now on PB!) 2 Click on 'Browse' 3 Basically you are browsing to your pc file tree, you need to navigate to wherever you have saved the pics on your pc (Usually the desktop is a quick and easy place but in this example my file is called pc frame) 4 Once you have the folder (where the pics are saved) in this top window (see pic circled above) then the files should appear in the window directly below. Select the pic that you wish to upload (only one at a time with this method) You should see that the name of the pic automatically appears in the 'File Name' window (see below) and then click on 'Open' 5 Once you have pressed open then the pic name should automatically appear in the PB upload window - repeat steps 2 to 4 above until you have all of the relevant pics that you want to upload . Once you are ready then click on the 'Upload' button 6 This upload screen will appear and depending on the size of your pics & your t'internet speed either go and make a coffee or wait a few seconds. 7 Once the upload has completed then the images should appear in your PB page as shown below (You may need to press F5 ro refresh the screen) You can see at the bottom of each image there is the 'Img Code' which is automatically put there by PB. Hover your mouse over this and 'left click' your mouse - you should get a little tag pops up that says 'Copied' 8 Now go into the forum and whilst making a post then right click and press paste - the image will not be shown at this stage but simply the code. And that should be it! Oh I forgot to add that the whole process is much easier if you have tabbed browsing - this is basically when you can have more than one internet page open (I use Firefox, or Internet explorer 7 does the job too) Any probs then come back to me! And apologies if I am teaching you to suck eggs with any of the above - but I just know from experience how frustrating these things can be!

It's all explained beautifully.

Hey - its works! FWIW, I use Picasa as my picture host, one advantage being that you can upload full size pictures and then select the size of the picture you want to insert into the thread without having to reduce the size of each picture manually first. Method is as follows : 1. Select "reply" on post where the photo is to be inserted. 2. Click on the picture tag ( 4th from left on the 2nd row of "Add Tags"). This brings up the [/img] tags. 3. In your picasa album click on the photo you want to upload. 4. On the R/H side, click "Link to this photo". Then select the size of the picture. The one above is medium 400px 5. In the "HTML to embed in website" window copy all the text and paste it between the tags. This includes 2 addresses - one picasaweb and one google as follows : <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/xyzrdmzyx/WoodworksPiccies/photo#5153523884475165826"><img src="http://lh6.google.com/xyzrdmzyx/R4T-qxuiLII/AAAAAAAABSY/YRVG1EmsfDQ/s400/table%20003.jpg" /></a> This info includes the size of the photo so that's why you have to select the size first. 6. Delete the picasaweb address and all text outside the "" as follows : lh6.google.com/xyzrdmzyx/R4T-qxuiLII/AAAAAAAABSY/YRVG1EmsfDQ/s400/table%20003.jpg7. A quick "preview" to check for errors and you're done. Of course you could just copy and paste the "google address" but I find it easier to copy and paste the whole lot and delete the extra stuff. HTH.
