Anyone made Wind Chimes? I have got some basics done and in place, but is there anything more scientific in it than a few pipes? Did a Google, was not a good search.

The most important thing is to get the successive pipes the right length. each lenth of pipe has a specific pitch and the pitches have to be complimentary otherwise it sounds terrible. best way i found was to lay the pipes next to each other and play on them like a "×ylophone" shortning each successive pipe until it has the correct pitch.
An alternative is to use something like sections of bamboo even diffrent thicknesses will work. In stead of making diffrent lengths you just remove a small section from the side until the right pitch is achieved.
String is the best hanger for clear sound but anything can be used as a hanger, wire, nylon, fishing line.
Hope this helps

Thanks very much, will give it 'bash'.
Type of piping - copper? which is quite readily available?

thing about copper is that it fades to a nicely patinated colour. the thinner the better though with copper. paul
