Received a visit from ColinC today, so naturally I was my usual polite self and let him in. Anyhoo, he'd just been to Tilgear(Cuffley) and had bought some sash cramps which looked and felt excellent, nice smooth movement and holding power, so I bought some too. Sekura, I can recommend them at £23.45 for the 50" size

So are these as good as the Bessey ones? On the 'other' forum they are complaining about some lookalikes that don't hold properly or cramp up with the jaws out of square. Any comments?

What, with all those planes that cost hundreds of pounds each, and then hand lapped by the new owners to be flatter than Scrits new cap? (If Senior is right about his B.Day present ;D) Is it possible that they cant plane square? ;D

Hi All
It is me Dom is talking about and I have also got some of the Rutland ones but I think these are better, because they are just like the Bessey's as in the working are built in unlike the Rutlands have a slip clutch to hold the plus the support foot ( The bit of plastic on the end of the bar) is better on the the Tilgear one'sx too.
I guess I will see which one,s will last the

I guess I will see which one,s will last the These look exactly the same as the ones I have, which I bought a year or so agao when Rutlands last sold them off. Does the support foot have a tapped thread in the side? If so the mech is similar, but not the same as the besseys, in that there is a pressed steel top 'arm' and a lower steel dowel which forms the catch, rather than a cast mech like the bessey's. Good cramps for the money though.

Sorry, but I don't want to have to bookmark a thread to get a message when it is updated. I want it to behave like The Other Place - if I post in a thread then (by default) I get an e-mail whenever anyone else posts in that thread with a link direct to the new post.

Nick, the solution is to post in more threads. That way you get too many alerts and thus so sick of them you no longer crave the feature. At least I think that's what happened to me... Cheers, Alf
