Hello All
9fingers here - just popped in from the other place. I've picked up the gist of why this forum has been set up (it all happened whilst I was away on holiday).
If it helps me fit in here, i did get my first warning from the mods in the other place last weekend!!
Are there some different rules or guidelines here?
I'm still a beginner to woodwork especially compared to the pros here so is this forum less suited to potentially naive questions?
Regards
Bob

I'm just new myself Bob, having left the 'other place' due to several reasons. I can't vouch for any special rules and regulations - since I haven't read 'em - but it seems natural, normal and open to all. A lot of familiar names and styles but in my short opinion, it's what a forum should be and ALL are welcome with ANY questions ........

I can't vouch for any special rules and regulations - since I haven't read 'em That's because we haven't written 'em ;D Obvious rules that we shouldn't even have to mention are: No racism, sexism or any other isms (haven't really thought this through fully so keep any smart ass comments to yourself ) No pornographic images/videos/links of any kind (use the chatroom for those ;D) Keep insults private unless it is light hearted and most of all, highly humorous.

Well I'm back from having me tea and to lots of welcome messages.
Thanks all.
Whilst I'm likely to be a net absorber of woodworking information, I do have a reasonable experience of mechanical engineering and have a metalworking workshop with a lathe & a mill. I'm open to persuasion if members need a little machining job doing from time to time. My day job - for the next 14 months - is in electronics so might be able to offer help in this field. I'm not an electrician and don't do part P compliance stuff but I do know a bit about motors and phase inverters/converters. If you think I can help then ask away.
Bob

andy you have to have a few ghosts ;D thing is what we need to do is establish a sensible way to look at both sides without the need for dumbass mods trying to be uneven handed dear old barry was a cantakerous sod, but he did have some good practical experience which was converted into sensible hardware. i know i saw it and as they say felt it. paul

I was not going to mention cyclones but now the cat is out of the bag ( or should that be the dust is in the bag!!), yes I do have Barry's IKEA Flower Pot cyclone. I also have a spare IKEA flowerpot if anyone needs one and am happy to pass on details of Barry's design. I never met Barry but we talked on the phone a few times and I did some background maths for him. We were due to meet around this time last year but it did not happen and thats that. I'm sure he would like this forum - already I'm feeling welcome. It is also good to see a few other metal bashers 'coming out' round here too. Regards Bob

I notice the Oneida have been advertising a UK presence in the mags, and Andy has even reviewed their Dust Deputy IIRC. However their web site still says New Website Coming Soon . Does anyone know when 'soon' will be?

They are at the Harrogate show in November, and they are selling here already, but waiting for stock for the show I believe.
It is the same company that sells the Mulecab Accusquare fence (http://www.mulecab.co.uk) and the they can be contacted on the number on the Mulecab site.
I know 'cos I bought a Dust deputy from them.
